Evaluation

Through completeing the task of producing a mobile phone interview, i am able to evaluate the final piece and interpret the feedback from my audience. We discovered our strengths and weaknesses through the audience feedback, finding that our strongest areas were the mise-en-scene, and the smoothness of the interview as a whole, and our weakest areas were that the cutaways could have been more relevant. We did alot of planning, filming and editing throught the process for the final piece which came out an overall success.

Our group got together and before we filmed the interview, we planned the cutaways. This included shots of an old fashioned telephone and a modern telephone to contrast. We wrote all of the cutaways that we wanted to achieve down, managing to film most of them. The shots were successful yet they could have been improved and made more relevant to the interview. This means that it would have been more sensible to film the interview first.

Filming the cutaways was also successful as we managed to film all the cutaways that we needed. However not all of the cutaways were needed for the final interview, as again we did not know what the interviewee was going to say, meaning that we should have filmed the cutaways after the interview.

When we filmed the interview, we managed to create a relevant effective mise-en-scene. This was one of our most strongest areas. Therefore due to the good answers that the interviewee gave and the mise-en-scene reflecting them, the interview was successful. The only weakness within the interview was the beggining of the answers as the interviewee was not aware of applying the words in the question to her answer so that the audience would understand and have an idea of what the question was to begin with.

Editing the piece was the most successful part of the project, as i got a grasp on the software quickly and found the skills quite simple therefore the editing did not take many lessons to complete. The editing was also the most enjoyable part of the project, as we got to learn new skills and develope our own.

To conclude, the audience feedback was very useful and relevant, helping me evaluate my mobile phone interview and be prepared for the next project. I am please with my overall interview and found that our strengths consisted of a good mise-en-scene behind the interviewee. The music we used was relevant however it was mentioned that the volume was a little too loud. The editing was nice and smooth making scence, therefore our strengths ranged throughout the whole project. Our weaknesses invloved the misplacement of the question being put into the interviewees answer. The cutaways also could have been cleaner even more relevant and framed better. This means that even though there were areas of positivity in my interview the same area involved some negative feedback meaning most areas could have been improved. Therefore, I am now aware of what i need to do to improve my next interview or a similar piece of work.
